By Adnan Tezer Aug 21, 2010, 2:24 GMT
Paramount will finally release the Renee Zellweger horror film "Case 39" on October 1 after sitting on the shelf for two years.
According to Variety, Paramount's decision to open the film comes on the heels of the film grossing $15 million at the international box office. The film has played particularly well in Mexico and Spain. The domestic marketing campaign will focus primarily on the Hispanic market.
Christian Alvart directed a cast that included Zellweger, Bradley Cooper, Ian McShane and Jodelle Ferland.
The film was shot in late 2006 and was first set to be released in February 2008, then was pushed back to April 2009.
The story focuses on social worker Emily Jenkins (Zellweger), who investigates the family of an abused 10-year-old girl (Ferland). After the girl comes to live with Emily, bizarre events begin to happen around her and her work.
