Warner Bros. takes 'Distance' back a week
By Adnan Tezer Aug 14, 2010, 2:27 GMT
Warner Bros. has pushed back the opening of its Drew Barrymore-Justin Long romantic comedy "Going the Distance," from August 27 to September 3.
Sony's "Takers," Lionsgate's "The Last Exorcism," as well as Fox's re-release of "Avatar" will open on Aug. 27.
According to Variety, Warners is hoping that the new release date for "Going the Distance" will provide audiences with more Labor Day Weekend options as it goes up against Focus Features' George Clooney espionage thriller "The American," opening Wednesday, Sept. 1, and Robert Rodriguez’s action film "Machete," which 20th Century Fox will open Sept. 3.
"Going the Distance," focuses on a couple, played by Barrymore and Long, as they deal with the ups and downs of a long-distance relationship.
