Henry Cavill will star in "The Cold Light of Day," a kidnapping thriller from Intrepid Pictures and Summit Entertainment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mabrouk El Mechri, who directed the self-referential Jean-Claude Van Damme comedy-drama "JCVD," will direct.
Intrepid’s Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans are producing.
The story centers on an arrogant young Wall Street trader who vacations with his family in Spain. When his family is kidnapped, he becomes involved in a government conspiracy and must delve into his father's past in order to save his family.
Richard Price is doing a rewrite on the original script written by Scott Wiper and John Petro.
Production is set for a September 6 start in Spain.
Cavill is best known for his performance as Charles Brandon on Showtime's "Tudors." He is currently shooting Tarsem Singh's big-budget Greek god epic "Immortals."
