Josh Hutcherson will star alongside Dane Cook and executive produce the teen horror-comedy "Detention."
According to Variety, Joseph Kahn will direct from a script he co-wrote with Mark Palermo.
The story centers on a group of high school seniors who must battle a slasher-film killer who has come to life.
Kahn is producing the $10 million film along with Richard Weager, Maryann Tanedo and David Kang. Production begins in Los Angeles next month.
Hutcherson can be currently seen in the indie sensation "The Kids Are All Right," alongside Annette Bening and Julianne Moore. He stars in the upcoming reboot of "Red Dawn" and will begin work on New Line's sequel of "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in October.
Kahn directed Eminem's "Without Me" video and "Torque" for Warner Bros.
