Sam Raimi will direct and produce the screen adaptation of the graphic novel "Earp: Saints for Sinners" for DreamWorks.
According to Variety, Radical Studios, Mandeville and Raimi's Star Road Entertainment are producing.
Radical’s Barry Levine will produce with Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, and Star Road's Josh Donen.
The novel is a modern-day re-imagining of Western hero Wyatt Earp fighting outlaws in a ravaged society where the only profitable town left is Las Vegas.
The comic was created by Matt Cirulnick and Mandeville Films' David Manpearl, with Cirulnick writing the film's screenplay.
Raimi dropped out of directing the next installment of Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man" franchise in January.
He's been in talks with Disney to direct a prequel to "The Wizard of Oz" called "Oz, the Great and Powerful" with Robert Downey Jr. in talks for the lead.
