According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tate Taylor wrote the script and is directing.

The story focuses on a community in 1960s Jackson, Mississippi that is shattered when a young female writer interviews a maid, who speaks candidly about her experiences.
Shooting begins at the end of July in Greenwood, Mississippi.
Brunson Green, Chris Columbus and Michael Barnathan are producing.
Chastain plays Brad Pitt's wife in Terrence Malick's upcoming "Tree of Life." She just wrapped shooting on the thriller "The Fields," with Sam Worthington and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
