Twentieth Century Fox is in talks with Matt Damon to star in Cameron Crowe's next film, "We Bought a Zoo."
According to Variety, Crowe has been working on the script, originally written by Aline Brosh McKenna.
Based on Benjamin Mee's memoir, the film tells the story of a widowed father who buys a neglected zoo and, with the help of his children and a loyal staff, works to create a sanctuary for breeding and raising endangered species.
Fox has already set a Dec. 23, 2011 release date.
Damon can be seen in "The Adjustment Bureau," which opens Sept. 17, followed by Clint Eastwood's "Hereafter" on Oct. 22 and the Coen brothers' remake of "True Grit" on Dec. 25.
