By Adnan Tezer Jun 23, 2010, 1:28 GMT
Kristen Bell is in talks to join Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski in Universal’s "Whales."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ken Kwapis will direct the film based on the nonfiction book "Freeing the Whales: How the Media Created the World's Greatest Non-Event" by Tom Rose.
Working Title's Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Liza Chasin are producing with Anonymous Content's Steve Golin and Michael Sugar.
Based on a true story and set in Cold War-era 1988, the film focuses on a small-town news reporter (Krasinski) and a Greenpeace volunteer (Barrymore) who seek the help of rival superpowers to save three majestic gray whales trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle.
Bell recently starred in "When in Rome" and next appears in Disney's September comedy "You Again" with Sigourney Weaver and Betty White.
