Columbia moves ahead on 'Ghost Rider' sequel

Columbia Pictures is prepping a "Ghost Rider" sequel and is in talks with Nicolas Cage to star.
According to Variety, the directing team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are in talks to direct.
Eva Mendes, who co-starred in the original "Ghost Rider" is not expected to return.
Scott Gimple and Seth Hoffman wrote the screenplay, which is based on a story by David Goyer. The logline is being kept under wraps.
Columbia was set to lose the Marvel property if it couldn't put a sequel into production by November.
The original "Ghost Rider" earned $229 million worldwide during its 2007 theatrical run.
Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Michael De Luca and Stephen Paul are producing with shooting set to begin in the fall.
Neveldine and Taylor directed "Crank," the sequel "Crank: High Voltage" and "Gamer." They also wrote the screenplay for Warner Bros.' upcoming film "Jonah Hex."
