'Karate Kid' shows no mercy over weekend

Sony's remake of the 1984 classic "The Karate Kid" swept the leg of the competition over the weekend at the domestic box office.
According to Variety, the film debuted with $56 million.
20th Century Fox’s big-screen version of the popular ‘80s TV show "The A-Team" opened at No. 2 with $26 million.
Paramount and DreamWorks Animation's "Shrek Forever After" ended its three week run atop the box office as it fell to No. 3 with $15.8 million. The domestic cumulative for the film stands at $210.1 million.
Universal's comedy "Get Him to the Greek" came in at No. 4 with $10.1 million for a domestic cumulative of $36.5 million.
Lionsgate's "Killers" finished at No. 5 with $8.2 million for a domestic cumulative of $30.4 million.
