John Carpenter will direct "Fangland," a contemporary version of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
According to Variety, Sriram Das of DAS Films and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions are producing.
The film is based on the 2007 novel by former "60 Minutes" producer John Marks. Mark Wheaton ("Friday the 13th") wrote the adaptation.
The plot centers on a New York-based producer traveling to Romania for an interview with a European arms dealer, who turns out to be Dracula.
Carpenter is currently in post-production on the ghost story "The Ward." It’s his first film since 2001's "Ghosts of Mars."
Carpenter’s credits include "Escape From New York," "The Thing," "Big Trouble in Little China" and "Starman."
