Jeremy Renner close to the 'Avengers'
By Adnan Tezer Jun 4, 2010, 20:31 GMT
Jeremy Renner is in final talks to join Marvel Studios' superhero team film "The Avengers."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joss Whedon is directing.
Renner would play the originally villainous bow-and-arrow-carrying Hawkeye, who, while not one of the charter members of the team when it was created in the 1960s, became an important member after he switched sides.
Renner will join Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle as War Machine.
The Hulk may also be involved but there is presently no deal that would bring back Ed Norton, who starred in 2008's "The Incredible Hulk."
Renner shot to fame with his role in last year’s Academy Award-winning Best Picture "The Hurt Locker." He next appears in Ben Affleck's "The Town."
