Frances McDormand is in talks to join Italian director Paolo Sorrentino's "This Must Be the Place," starring Sean Penn.
According to Variety, the film will be Sorrentino’s English-language debut. It will be co-produced by Nicola Giuliano's Indigo Film along with Ireland's Element Pictures.
Sorrentino co-wrote the screenplay with Umberto Contarello.
The film follows a wealthy rock star (Penn) who takes on the quest of finding his father’s executioner, an ex-Nazi war criminal who is a refugee in the U.S.
McDormand's role is being kept under wraps.
The film will shoot in Dublin in August before moving to the U.S.
Sorrentino is best known for his 2004 thriller, "The Consequences of Love," which was nominated for the Palme D'Or at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
