By Adnan Tezer May 14, 2010, 21:47 GMT
Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Wright are close to joining Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill in Columbia Pictures' "Moneyball."
If Hoffman joins the project, it would reunite him with director Bennett Miller, who directed Hoffman to a best actor Oscar in "Capote."
According to Variety, the studio is prepping "Moneyball" for a July start date in Los Angeles.
Based on Michael Lewis' nonfiction book, story centers on the 2002 Oakland Athletics, who were led by general manager Billy Beane (Pitt) to an excellent season despite having the lowest payroll in Major League Baseball.
Hoffman would play A’s manager Art Howe, who had several clashes with Beane over strategic decisions.
Wright would play Beane's ex-wife.
