'Iron Man 2' blasts off to top spot at box office

Paramount and Marvel Entertainment's "Iron Man 2" debuted with an estimated $133.6 million to run away with the domestic box office.
The film, which now ranks as Paramount’s highest-grossing domestic opener, took in an additional $57.2 million overseas to bring its worldwide total to $327.6 million.
According to Variety, "Iron Man 2" became the fifth-highest three-day opener ever domestically, surpassing "Shrek the Third," which debuted with $121.6 million in 2007.
Warner Bros. and New Line's horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street" came in a distant second with $9.2 million for a cumulative of $48.5 million.
Paramount and DreamWorks Animation's 3D cartoon "How to Train Your Dragon" came in No. 3 with $6.8 million for a cumulative of $201.1 million.
20th Century Fox's romantic comedy "Date Night" came in No.4 with $5.3 million for a cumulative of $80.8 million.
CBS' "The Back-Up Plan" came in No.5 with $4.3 million for a cumulative of $29.4 million.
