Gunn joins up with 'Smurfs'

Tim Gunn has booked a role in Sony's live-action/animated version of the 80s cartoon series "The Smurfs."
Gunn, who is best known for his mentor role on "Project Runway" and the catchphrase "Make it work," will play an executive assistant at a major cosmetic company.
He joins a cast that includes Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, Sofia Vergara, Katy Perry, George Lopez, Alan Cumming and Jonathan Winters.
According to Variety, Raja Gosnell is directing with shooting underway in New York.
The Smurfs were created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford.
Gunn, who has appeared on "Ugly Betty" and "How I Met Your Mother," will be seen in "Sex and the City 2."
