Patrick Dempsey joins 'Transformers 3'

Patrick Dempsey has joined the cast of Paramount's "Transformers 3."
The cast includes franchise stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, as well as Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn and Julie White.
Dempsey will play the boss of Fox's character.
According to Variety, director Michael Bay will begin shooting this month.
Ehren Kruger wrote the script.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce are producing.
Paramount has set a release date of July 1, 2011.
Dempsey, star of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," was last seen in the romantic comedy "Made of Honor."
