Scorsese to go 3D
By Adnan Tezer Apr 15, 2010, 7:44 GMT
Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese will shoot his next film, "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," in 3D.
This continues the hot trend of 3D in film following the success of "Avatar" and "Alice in Wonderland."
Based on Brian Selznick's bestselling children's book, "Hugo Cabret" takes place in 1930s Paris and focuses on a 12-year-old orphan trying to solve the mystery of a broken robot.
According to Variety, John Logan adapted the screenplay.
The cast includes Asa Butterfield, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley and Chloe Moretz.
Production will begin in London in June with GK Films producing and Sony distributing.
A release date has been set for Dec. 9, 2011.
Scorsese’s last film was "Shutter Island."
