By Adnan Tezer Mar 31, 2010, 20:28 GMT
New Line is remaking the 1980 comedy "Private Benjamin" as a starring vehicle for Anna Faris.
Amy Talkington is in discussions to write the screenplay, with Mark Gordon producing.
The original starred Goldie Hawn as a spoiled woman who joins the Army after her husband dies during sex on their wedding night.
The film became a box office hit and earned three Oscar nominations; best actress for Hawn, supporting actress for Eileen Brennan and original screenplay (Nancy Meyers, Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new version will be a contemporary update with present-day wars as the setting.
Talkington wrote a remake of the 1980s classic “Valley Girl,” which is set up at MGM.
Faris recently signed on to star in the comedy “What’s Your Number?”
