Sofia Vergara has been cast in Sony's live-action/animated version of the ’80s cartoon series "The Smurfs."
Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Winters, George Lopez, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria have also been cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Raja Gosnell is directing from a script by David N. Weiss, J. David Stem, Jay Sherick and David Ronn. Jordan Kerner is producing.
The Smurfs were created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford.
Vergara can be seen on ABC’s hit comedy "Modern Family" and has appeared in the films "Madea Goes to Jail," "Meet the Browns" and "Four Brothers."
