Fincher knows a 'Sacrifice'
By Adnan Tezer Mar 15, 2010, 20:22 GMT
David Fincher is in talks to direct Columbia Pictures' chess drama "Pawn Sacrifice."
The film would be a biopic of American chess icon Bobby Fischer focusing on his historic world championship match against Boris Spassky.
According to Variety, Steven Knight ("Dirty Pretty Things") wrote the screenplay.
Fincher recently completed work on Columbia’s Facebook film "The Social Network."
Gail Katz and Tobey Maguire are producing.
Fincher’s last two films "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Zodiac" were made at Paramount.
Fincher is also high on the studio’s wish list to direct the adaptation of Stieg Larsson's bestseller "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," which Scott Rudin is producing.
