Clint Eastwood circling J. Edgar Hoover
By Adnan Tezer Mar 11, 2010, 20:20 GMT
Clint Eastwood is in talks to direct a biopic about FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, written by Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black ("Milk") and produced by Brian Grazer through Imagine Entertainment.
According to Variety, the film is not currently set up at a studio. Universal put the project into turnaround after Imagine initially set it up at its parent studio.
With Eastwood’s involvement, it’s possible that the film could end up at Warner Bros., where Eastwood has produced 35 films through his Malpaso production company.
Hoover was appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation in 1924 and was named head of the FBI when it was founded 11 years later. He remained director until his death in 1972 and was notorious for using the FBI to harass political activists and keeping secret files on leaders.
Eastwood is currently in post-production for the Warner Bros. film "Hereafter," starring Matt Damon.
