Jason Winer to take on 'Arthur'

Jason Winer will direct Warner Bros.' remake of the 1981 comedy "Arthur," starring Russell Brand.
According to Variety, Larry Brezner, Chris Bender and Kevin McCormick are producing. Russell Brand, Scott Kroopf, J.C. Spink and Nick Linnen are executive producing.
Peter Baynham wrote the script. Baynham was a writer on Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" and "Bruno."
The original film was written and directed by Steve Gordon and starred Dudley Moore as an alcoholic playboy who falls in love with a working-class woman, played by Liza Minnelli.
Brand appeared in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and reprises his role in the film as musician Aldous Snow in the upcoming "Get Him to the Greek."
Winer won the DGA's comedy series award for directing ABC’s "Modern Family" pilot.
