Hailee Steinfeld to star in 'True Grit'

13-year old newcomer Hailee Steinfeld has been cast as the female lead in Paramount's remake of the Western classic "True Grit."
According to Variety, Ethan and Joel Coen begin shooting from their own script next month in New Mexico.
The cast includes Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin.
The Coen brothers are producing with Scott Rudin. The film will open Christmas Day.
In "True Grit," 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Steinfeld) joins forces with Rooster Cogburn (Bridges), a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. marshal, in order to find her father's killer (Brolin). Their paths cross with a Texas Ranger (Damon) who is also searching for the same criminal.
The role of Rooster Cogburn won John Wayne an Oscar for Best Actor in 1969.
