Paul Feig and Judd Apatow are collaborating on an untitled Kristen Wiig project for Universal Pictures.
According to Variety, this will be Wiig's first bigscreen starring role.
Feig will direct and Apatow will produce in what will be their first collaboration since working together on Feig's short-lived but critically acclaimed high school series "Freaks and Geeks."
Wiig wrote the screenplay with Annie Mumolo.
The plot is being kept under wraps, but it is described as focusing on a group of women competing to plan a friend's wedding party.
Apatow, who was a writer, director and executive producer on "Freaks and Geeks," is producing through his Apatow Productions company.
Feig is executive producing, and Wiig and Mumolo are co-producing.
Feig, the creator of "Freaks and Geeks," most recently directed the holiday comedy "Unaccompanied Minors."
Wiig, who made her name on "Saturday Night Live," appears in several upcoming comedies including "MacGruber" and "Date Night."
