By Adnan Tezer Feb 5, 2010, 3:09 GMT
Universal Pictures is pushing forward with a fifth installment of "Fast and Furious."
According to Variety, the film is currently being referred to as "Fast Five."
Universal has closed deals with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, director Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz. Original Films' Moritz has produced every film in the series, beginning in 2001 with the "The Fast and the Furious."
Diesel and Walker did not appear in the third film of the series ("The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift") but returned for last year's fourth installment ("Fast and Furious"), which was the highest-grossing "Fast and Furious" film and Universal's top grosser of 2009. It took in over $350 million worldwide.
Chris Morgan is writing "Fast Five," which will make it the third time he and director Lin have teamed for a "Fast and Furious" film.
Shooting will begin later this year for a 2011 release.
