'Flight of the Conchords' co-creator to go Muppet

"Flight of the Conchords" co-creator James Bobin has signed on to direct Disney’s new Muppet movie.

Bobin’s name emerged as the lead choice after “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller decided to direct “21 Jump Street” at Sony instead.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller wrote the new Muppet film.

Plot details are being kept under wraps by Disney for now but the film is expected to have a strong musical element. Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing.

In addition to “Conchords,” Bobin was a writer on “Da Ali G Show” and has the comedy “Moon People” set up at Sony.
