'Stargate Atlantis' actor Momoa in talks for 'Conan'

Jason Momoa is in early talks to play Conan in the reboot of "Conan the Barbarian," which Marcus Nispel is directing for Nu Image/Millenium Films.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate will distribute the film domestically.

Andrew Lobel wrote the current draft of the script, which will see Conan avenge his slaughtered father and tribe.

The film will shoot in mid-March in Bulgaria.

Momoa is best known for playing Ronon Dex in "Stargate Atlantis."

Nispel has made his name directing franchise reboots such as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" in 2003 and "Friday the 13th" in 2009.

Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Joe Gatta and George Furla are producing.
