Penn, Pattinson walking on 'Water'

Robert Pattinson and Sean Penn are in talks to join Fox 2000's Depression-era drama "Water for Elephants."
Reese Witherspoon has already been cast in the film, which will be directed by Francis Lawrence and is based on Sara Gruen's best-selling historical novel.
The story focuses on a Cornell University veterinary student (Pattinson) who leaves school following the death of his parents and joins up with the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth, working as a vet for the circus.
Witherspoon will play an equestrian star married to Penn's enigmatic but disturbed animal trainer.
According to Variety, Richard LaGravenese is writing the screenplay.
Gil Netter, Erwin Stoff and Andrew Tennenbaum are producing.
