Mark Strong ("Sherlock Holmes") is in negotiations to portray one of the main villains in "Green Lantern," Warner Bros.' film based on the DC Comics hero.
Ryan Reynolds plays Hal Jordan, a second-generation test pilot who has been charged with defending a sector of the universe with a mystical green ring. Strong would play Sinestro, Jordan's one-time mentor who abuses the power of the Green Lantern.
According to Variety, Donald De Line is producing and Martin Campbell will direct.
Production will begin in March for a June 17, 2011 release date.
Greg Berlanti is also producing and wrote the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green, with Michael Goldenberg doing a rewrite.
Blake Lively has been cast as the love interest and Peter Sarsgaard is in talks to play another villain, Hector Hammond.
