Marc Forster to take on Ludlum
By Adnan Tezer Jan 16, 2010, 2:28 GMT
Marc Forster will direct "The Chancellor Manuscript" for Paramount.
The studio, which paid $4 million for the Robert Ludlum political thriller in 2005, has hired Peter O'Brien to adapt the novel for the screen. Michael Seitzman and Alessandro Camon wrote earlier drafts.
The story centers on Peter Chancellor, whose novel about D.C. power brokers altering U.S. policies puts his life at risk.
The film is being developed as a starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio.
Other Ludlum projects in the works include Universal’s "The Sigma Protocol" and MGM’s "The Matarese Circle" which has Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington attached to star with David Cronenberg directing.
According to Variety, Douglas Wick is producing "Chancellor Manuscript" alongside DiCaprio. Forster's partner Brad Simpson will also produce alongside Captivate Entertainment, which represents the Ludlum estate.
Forster most recently directed the James Bond film "Quantum of Solace."
