'Star Trek' sequel date set

Paramount has announced that they will release the untitled "Star Trek" sequel into theaters on June 29, 2012.
Released last May, the J.J. Abrams-directed "Star Trek" successfully rebooted the sci-fi franchise, grossing $385.5 million at the worldwide box office. The film starred Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Bruce Greenwood and Eric Bana.
According to Variety, "Star Trek" writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman will work on the script for the sequel with Damon Lindelof.
Abrams is on onboard to produce the sequel with his Bad Robot producing partner Bryan Burk although there is no closed deal for Abrams to direct.
