James Franco has his 'Hours'
By Adnan Tezer Jan 7, 2010, 23:58 GMT
James Franco will star as mountaineer Aron Ralston for director Danny Boyle in Fox Searchlight’s "127 Hours."
This will mark Boyle’s first film since winning Best Director and Best Picture for 2008’s "Slumdog Millionaire."
The true-life story centers on Ralston, who spent five days with his right forearm pinned under a boulder during a climb in May 2003. He used a dull knife to amputate the limb, then scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before coming across a family that gave him water and food. He was finally rescued by helicopter.
According to Variety, shooting will begin in March in Utah for a late 2010 release.
Also reuniting with Boyle from "Slumdog" are Simon Beaufoy, who is writing the script, and producer Christian Colson.
