20th Century Fox has hired "Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write the screenplay for its "X-Men" spinoff, "Deadpool."
According to Variety, Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the mercenary he played in last year's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
This will be Reynolds’ second superhero role as he begins production as the title character in DC Comics' "Green Lantern" next month. "Deadpool" could be his next project post-"Green Lantern."
Lauren Shuler Donner is producing "Deadpool."
Reese and Wernick most recently sold the pitch "Earth vs. Moon" to Universal Pictures and wrote a draft of "Venom" for Sony/Marvel.
