'Spider-Man 4' gets pushed back
By Adnan Tezer Jan 6, 2010, 3:20 GMT
'Spider-Man 4,' which was scheduled to begin shooting in February, has been pushed back temporarily because of script issues.
According to Variety, a Sony source confirmed that the studio is postponing production on the fourth installment of its superhero franchise.
This would not be the first time Sony has had to delay a tent pole film due to script problems. In November 2007, Sony put "Angels & Demons" on hold until its screenplay issues could be fixed. The film was originally scheduled for a Christmas 2008 opening and ended up opening on May 15, 2009.
The "Spider-Man 4" script has seen drafts from David Koepp, who wrote the script for the first "Spider-Man," and James Vanderbilt. Alvin Sargent, who co-wrote the last two "Spider-Man" sequels, is currently working on his own draft.
Sony still has "Spider-Man 4" scheduled for release on May 6, 2011, though that date has now become highly doubtful.
