Rene Russo to be mother of 'Thor'

Rene Russo has joined the cast of Paramount’s "Thor" as Frigga, the mother of Thor.
She joins a cast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Kat Dennings, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
According to Variety, Kenneth Branagh will be directing the film.
Shooting will be underway in January.
Paramount has already set a release date for the film of May 20, 2011.
Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz wrote the script, which has the Norse god Thor reigniting an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans.
