Bennett Miller will play 'Moneyball'
By Adnan Tezer Dec 5, 2009, 1:05 GMT
Columbia Pictures is in negotiations with director Bennett Miller to direct "Moneyball" starring Brad Pitt.
The "Capote" director would be taking over for Steven Soderbergh, who was set to direct the film until studio head Amy Pascal pulled the plug five days before shooting was to begin after disagreeing with a script rewrite by Soderbergh.
The film is based on Michael Lewis' best-selling novel of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane, who changed the business of drafting and signing baseball players through his unconventional use of statistical data and small budget.
According to Variety, Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin wrote the script, which was a rewrite of Stan Chervin’s earlier draft.
"Moneyball" is being produced by Michael De Luca, Scott Rudin and Rachael Horovitz.
