Sony and Paramount are prepping two unlikely sequels in the hopes of tapping into the growing 3D market.
According to Variety, Sony has agreed to deals with producer Gavin Polone and director Ruben Fleischer to return for a 3D sequel to "Zombieland," which cost $24 million and has earned $85.2 million worldwide to date. Stars Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg are in talks to reprise their roles from the original as well.
Meanwhile, Paramount and MTV Films will be collaborating on a third "Jackass," which will also be shot in 3D.
Filming is scheduled to begin January 25. Paramount has already set a 2010 release date for the film, which will star Johnny Knoxville. The first two films, which together cost $16.5 million, have grossed a combined $164.1 million worldwide.
