Los Angeles - The Princess and the Frog scored eight nominations Tuesday for the 37th annual Annie Awards, marking a rare success for classic hand-drawn nominations in an era of computer- generated imagery.
Disney's upcoming TV special, Prep and Landing, nabbed another nine nominations for the awards, which are presented annually by the International Animated Film Society and honour the best in animated features, television, productions, commercials, short subjects and individual achievements in the field of animation.
Joining The Princess and the Frog in the best animated feature category were Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Coraline, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Secret of Kells and Up.
The nominees for directing in a feature are Wes Anderson for Fantastic Mr Fox, Pete Docter for Up, Christopher Miller and Phil Lord for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Hayao Miyazaki for Ponyo and Henry Selick for Coraline.
The winners will be announced on February 6.
