Los Angeles - Vampire movie sensation Twilight emerged as the top nominee for the People's Choice Awards Tuesday, as it earned seven nominations for the prizes chosen by the public in online voting.
The movie, based on the bestselling book by Stephanie Meyer, was nominated as best movie and best franchise, while its three stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were all nominated for individual awards, as was supporting actress Anna Kendrick.
Besides Pattinson, other nominees for favourite movie actor were Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp and Ryan Reynolds. Anne Hathaway, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Kristen Stewart and Sandra Bullock were the nominees for favourite movie actress.
Vampires were also popular in the television section where the series True Blood and Vampire Diaries both earned multiple nominations. Cinematic sensation Paranormal Activity also received a nomination for best independent movie.
On the musical side, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Carrie Underwood and Pink were nominated as best female artists. Eminem, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Keith Urban and Tim McGraw were the nominees for best male artist.
The awards show, to be hosted by Queen Latifah, will take place on January 6.
