Thornton and Johnson are 'Faster'

Billy Bob Thornton will star with Dwayne Johnson in "Faster," the George Tillman-directed action drama.

Production begins early next year.

According to Variety, the film is a co-production of CBS Films and Sony Worldwide Acquisitions Group.

Johnson plays Driver, an ex-con out to avenge his brother's murder. Thornton plays Cop, a veteran policeman who trails Driver as he settles the score. Then there is Killer, a crazed hitman who's after Driver. Killer has not been cast yet.

Joe and Tony Gayton wrote the script.

Castle Rock's Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer are producing with Tony Gayton and Robert Teitel, Tillman's State Street Pictures partner. Joe Gayton is executive producer.
