'Stomp the Yard' sequel has a director

Writer-director Rob Hardy will direct the sequel "Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming" for Rainforest Films.

Columbus Short, who starred in the original, is in negotiations to reprise his role as DJ, a master street dancer. Shooting is to begin early next month in Atlanta.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Packer will produce through his Rainforest production company, along with Short. Hardy was an executive producer on the original "Stomp the Yard," which was released in 2007 and grossed $74 million worldwide.
