The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are moving to Viacom.Nickelodeon, a division of Viacom, has acquired the global rights to the property from the Mirage Group and 4Kids Entertainment. Paramount, also part of the Viacom family, will guide a new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" feature to theaters. The film is set for release in 2012. Scott Mednick ("300") is producing the film.According to Variety, the deal cost $60 million.Since first appearing in a 1984 comic book, the sewer-dwelling characters have produced numerous TV series, films, videogames and toy lines.Nickelodeon will begin developing a CG-animated TV series based on the Turtles, which will premiere in 2012.
