Chris Messina to dance with the 'Devil'

Chris Messina will star in the Universal horror-thriller "Devil," based on an M. Night Shyamalan story that will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle ("Quarantine").

According to Variety, the film is being produced by Shyamalan and Sam Mercer. It is the first film in a deal between Shyamalan and Media Rights Capital to create Night Chronicles, a production company that will create one horror film per year for the next three years.

Brian Nelson ("30 Days of Night") wrote the script. The Dowdles will be executive producers.

The plot is being kept under wraps for now. Production begins in Toronto on Oct. 26.
