The third installment of Paramount’s "Transformers" will return on July 1, 2011, with Michael Bay once again directing. Meanwhile, Disney has moved the 3D update of its hand-drawn classic "Beauty and the Beast" from 2010 to 2011.
Bay announced the new "Transformers" date on his website, saying he's begun meeting with ILM, Hasbro and writer Ehren Kruger to lay out plans for the film with the toymaker, which serves as a producer.
According to Variety, stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are also back.
The summer of 2011 is already filling up with high-profile tent-pole films.
A fourth "Spider-Man" opens in May, followed by "Thor" and "The Hangover 2" that month. June sees the opening of "The Green Lantern" and a "Kung Fu Panda" sequel, while July features the second installment of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," "The First Avenger: Captain America," "Battleship" and "The Smurfs."
