Sony’s “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” stayed atop the domestic box office with $24.6 million over the weekend, easily outperforming the debuts of Disney’s “Surrogates” and MGM’s “Fame.” It’s domestic cumulative stands at $60 million.“Surrogates,” starring Bruce Willis, came in second with $15 million as the sci-fi film performed well under forecasts. With an $80 million budget and a major promotional push over the last month, the poor launch is a disappointment for Disney. According to Variety, “Fame,” a remake of the 1980 musical-drama, followed in third place with $10 million. The initial numbers are low but with an $18 million budget, “Fame” will end up turning a profit. Warner’s second weekend of Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant” came in fourth place with $6.9 million for a 10-day cumulative of $21 million. Lionsgate’s third weekend of “Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All by Myself” followed in fifth place with $4.8 million for a 17-day total of $44.5 million.
