Tyler Perry’s "I Can Do Bad All by Myself," presided over a slow box office weekend with $24 million.
The first weekend of the fall is typically slow, so Perry's film was considered a success, especially for a drama.
According to Variety, it represented the third best opening for Perry, trailing only "Madea Goes to Jail" with $41 million and "Madea's Family Reunion" with $30 million.
Focus' launch of the animated sci-fi film "9" drew $10.9 million to come in second place with a five-day cumulative of $15.3 million.
Only "I Can Do Bad" and "9" grossed $7 million or more for the weekend.
TWC's "Inglourious Basterds" came in third with $6.5 million to lift its domestic cumulative to $104.3 million. The Quentin Tarantino film has became the 20th film of the year to cross the $100 million mark and will likely pass "Pulp Fiction" this week to be Tarantino’s highest grossing film.
Fox's Sandra Bullock comedy "All About Steve" came in fourth with $5.8 million for a 10-day cumulative of $21.8 million.
Warner Bros./New Line's "The Final Destination" finished fifth with $5.5 million to push its cumulative to $58.3 million making it the top domestic grosser among the four "Final Destination" films.
