Screenwriter Brad Caleb Kane is set to write a film based on the Fisher Price toy View-Master for producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.View-Master is a device used to view different 3-D images that are inserted on paper disks. It’s been around since 1939 and was originally marketed as a way for viewers to enjoy images of colorful and picturesque tourist attractions. It has since been marketed as a children’s toy.According to The Moving Picture, no plot details have been revealed, but Kane says his adaptation will be in the vein of “old 80’s Amblin movies”, such as “The Goonies” and “Young Sherlock Holmes.” The film is set up at DreamWorks.Kane, a co-producer and writer on Fox’s sci-fi series “Fringe,” recently finished co-writing the sci-fi action flick “Uprising” with Charles Leavitt. The View-Master film is just one of the many future projects based on a toy/board game. Adaptations of “Stretch Armstrong”, “Clue”, “Candyland”, “Monopoly”, “Battleship” and “Major Matt Mason” are all in development.
