Jessica Szohr jumps into 'Piranha 3D'

"Gossip Girl's" Jessica Szohr has signed on to co-star in Dimension's "Piranha 3D."

She joins the cast of Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Dina Meyer and Richard Dreyfuss, who have already signed up for the Alexandre Aja-directed horror remake.

Story begins after an underwater tremor sets free numerous prehistoric piranhas in a tourist-friendly lake, forcing a group of strangers to band together to battle the area’s new razor-toothed residents.

According to Variety, Szohr will play a local girl who is excited by all the commotion of spring break when it descends on her sleepy lakeside town.

Shooting begins this month in Arizona and will be released theatrically on March 19, 2010.
