Bruce Beresford will direct the romantic comedy "Get It at Goode's," an adaptation of Madeleine St. John's novel "The Women in Black."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Guy Pearce, Monica Bellucci and Miranda Otto will star in the film, which details the lives of a group of employees in a swanky salon in an early 1960s Sydney department store, with the arrival of a young Italian woman (Bellucci) initiating change at the store.
St. John's novel was published in the United Kingdom 15 years ago. It became a best-seller in Australia when it was republished there several months ago.
Beresford is an Australian director best known for his work on the 1980 Australian classic “Breaker Morant” and American classics such as “Tender Mercies” and "Driving Miss Daisy." Robert Duvall won a Best Actor Oscar in 1983 for his role in “Tender Mercies” while “Driving Miss Daisy” took home Best Picture and Best Actress (Jessica Tandy) Oscars in 1989.
Samson Productions will be producing the film. Production is scheduled to begin in Sydney later in October.
